Our metabolisms are going through changes. If you’re an over 40 woman like me, you might have faced the same issues I encountered when I hit 40: sudden weight gain, irregular periods, increased PMS, headaches, fatigue, and even sleep problems. Sound familiar?
As we approach the ‘M’ word (menopause), we enter what’s known as the ‘P’ word (perimenopause)—it’s a decade filled with ups and downs.
The reality is, that our estrogen levels, responsible for baby-making, are declining, while cortisol, the stress hormone, remains high. On top of that, insulin, crucial for breaking down sugars and carbs, isn’t working as it should, leading to fat storage around our waist.

Follow these boundaries and you balance your hormones which leads you closer to your goals. Timing is crucial too—having a strategy for when to eat and exercise and what can lock your hormones in the right behaviours (rather than the old ones) ensures you can enjoy weekends and holidays without undoing your progress.
